At SKINNY HIPPO, we believe in protecting what’s rare. That belief is now part of every purchase. We’re proud to partner with SAVE Wildlife Conservation Fund, which has worked since 2010 to protect endangered species in Botswana’s Okavango Delta.

Our commitment is simple: for every purchase made through SKINNY HIPPO, we donate €1 to SAVE’s hippo conservation programme. We’ve calculated that €1 is enough to feed a hippo for an entire day.

Why hippos need us

The Okavango Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has faced increasingly severe droughts in recent years. The seasonal floods that refill its lagoons and waterholes are arriving later—or not at all. As these habitats shrink, places that once offered refuge can become dangerous for the hippos that depend on them.

How SAVE helps

SAVE Wildlife Conservation Fund works directly in the delta. Its approach combines urgent support for hippos stranded in drying waterholes with environmental education for the communities who share this ecosystem.

When water and food become scarce, the team pumps water into shrinking lagoons and delivers food until the rains return. Alongside this emergency work, SAVE runs educational projects that help protect the Okavango for the long term.

Why we chose SAVE

We wanted a partner whose commitment was real, documented and sustained over time. SAVE brings more than fifteen years of on-the-ground work, dozens of community education projects and a belief we share: conservation works best when it supports both wildlife and local people.

This is practical conservation. Every dry season, SAVE’s team travels to threatened lagoons and does what it takes to help keep hippos alive until the water returns.
